Between April 2024 and August 2024, the CAPE VLT-640 was used to install 111 out of 219 jacket pin piles with a diameter up to 3.5 meter and a maximum length of 93.3 meter for phase one of the Hai Long Offshore Wind Farm in Taiwanese waters.
In 2025 the second phase will start around March 2025 to install the remaining piles. The Green Jade, Taiwan’s first 4,000t crane vessel with DP capabilities, of CDWE was used for the project. 12 piles, stacked in 3 layers, were taken on the deck to install 4 jacket locations per trip.
Main reason to choose for using the CAPE VLT was to prevent pile run. However, the efficiency of using the CAPE VLT was proven during the project as well, with the quickest time of 7 minutes to drive one of the pin piles up to 35m penetration depth.
